The field of possibilities
Echoing the Biennale de Design de Saint-Étienne around the theme of bifurcations, Döppel Studio explores alternative lifestyles through the design of 6 micro-architectures installed in the Church of St-Pierre by Le Corbusier in Firminy.
Our project is set up in fields at the end of the harvest. These vast landscapes are then unoccupied and castles made of straw stand in the middle of the void. We want to take advantage of the time separating the harvest from the work of the soil by coming to live in the fields while the earth is resting. Like straw bales, our microarchitectures come dressed in coats made of agricultural tarpaulins. Temporary and seasonal, these places to live invite nomadism by questioning the notions of comfort and individual-collective habitat.
